In the end, it has almost nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with setting out to accomplish something that is intimidating; that is unknown to you; something you know you have a good chance of failing at, but doing it anyways. And slowly but surely, proving yourself wrong.
It’s been awhile since I first watched this video months ago, but having re-watched it I am once again instilled with the excitement and interest that brought me to Project Pedal originally.
While I have never gone on a bike ride of any considerable distance, I have had the great benefit of experiencing many challenges similar to the ones described. Whether it was hiking through New Mexico or trudging up the high Sierra passes, there were times when I was extremely intimated and thought at times that I would fail or barely make it out alive. But I did make it out at the end of each journey and I came out a lot stronger and wiser and I am blessed to have had those experiences that made me the person I am today.
It’s that feeling of conquering our fears and our assumptions on what we think the outcomes our journeys will be and coming out far on top of those expectations that I hope this film will communicate.
