That Christmas Smell
I think one of my favorite parts of Christmas growing up was waking up in the cold morning to the clicks and whirs of the furnace turning on. I would stay under the covers just long enough until the warm and comforting air started to blast from the vents in the ceiling.
I would then make my way downstairs where the hot air combined with the large tree in the living room would fill the air with that Christmas tree smell. I love that smell and for me it is the one smell most evocative of Christmas. There’s something about warm, dry heat laced with the scent of pine that I find amazing.
Anyways, to re-create that effect I purchased a nice big wreath that is now hanging in my entryway that get to smell every time I leave my room or apartment. Since my stay in Portland is so short (leaving for california on Monday) I figured a wreath would be the perfect temporary choice which I can then hang outside in the hallway for the neighbors to enjoy while I’m gone.
